Transformation in Lament (Lamentations 3: 23-33)

Many points in US history classify as low points. A forgotten low point is the occupation of Washington during the War of 1812. It was out of the witness of destruction that Francis Scott Key saw hope in a Star Spangled Banner. While the Christian symbol of hope is different, there is wisdom in Key's story and from the Old Testament book of Lamentation about how we look at lament as part of our story. Entering into the lament of the world provides a humbling opportunity to encounter Christ in our lives and in the lives of our neighbors.
